PCSDS Salutes the Power of Worm

Worm for vermicultureInspired by the functional niche of worms as a natural decomposers, the PCSDS, during the SEP 17th year celebration in June 2009, launched its Vermi-composting Project at PSDTI garden area, Bgy. Irawan, Puerto Princesa City. Now, the PCSDS starts harvesting vermicast (worms manure), as ready and cost-free organic fertilizer to its flowering plants in the office. Vermicast can efficiently sustain plant’s nutritional need up to three months (more here...)

Pitcher orchid newly discovered in Palawan, Its foreign-sounding name irked PCSD

Nepenthes attenboroughii Puerto Princesa City: The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) urged the International Botanical Registry to rename the newly discovered rat-eating pitcher plant called Nepenthes attenboroughii to Palawan-nomenclature. This orchid which thrives in Palawan was discovered in 2007 by two British botanists namely Stewart Mcpherson and Alastair Robinson in the forested peaks of Victoria Range, Narra Palawan and registered its name after a famous British film maker/artist. read more
