Plans and programs were instituted to make the island attractive and appropriate for tourism activities.
Bataraza LGU committed to provide support in the maintenance and protection of the island.
Issues and Concerns
Due to the unabated bird poaching, illegal fishing and squatting of fishermen in the island in 2003, the birds became scarce. The island was also affected by the pollution of the wastes generated by the squatters in the area and the marine zone was devastated by illegal fishing employing cyanide and dynamite. The PAMB then declaring a MORATORIUM closed the island from residents, fisher folks and tourists.
