District Management Offices

The District Management Offices acting as little PCSDS in the field performed various functions to facilitate SEP implementation in the province. Among these were networking with LGUs, mobilization of environmental boards, project evaluation, enforcement of environmental laws, operationalization of the Community Listening Post and Quick Response System (CLP-QRS) and management of the protected areas.

It is significant to note that during the year, the staff were actively involved in the following:

  • implementation of PTFPP extension phase, a special project with fund support from the European Union and the Government of the Philippines, during the first two quarters of 2004;

  • coordinating the implementation of other special projects like the ECAN zoning component of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) funded SEMP - NP and the NPSDP in partnership with Shell Philippines B.V. (SPEX);

  • coordination with the municipality of Rizal for the submission of map for the proposed delineation and reclassification of barangays Puntabaja and Candawaga from timberland to alienable and disposable areas;

  • facilitating the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Caves Management Act by the El Nido LGU on October 13, 2004 and coordination with the municipality of Taytay for the final ratification of the MOA; and

  • facilitating the payment of penalties amounting to fifty thousand pesos (PhP 50,000) from live fish carriers who violated PCSD Administrative Order No. 05.
