Conduct of field Information & Education Campaign (IEC)
IEC in 8 municipalities attended by 4000 people was conducted. Topics discussed were on the SEP, PCSD Admin Orders, Handog Sa Dagat Program, Ecological Principles and other topics as requested by the LGUs.
Series of IEC was also conducted also in 4 municipalities and 8 tribal communities. Consultations with various sectors in Panitian, Quezon Palawan regarding illegal fishpond operations in the area were undertaken. Said consultations became part of the official video documentation report.
Fourteen (14) IEC's on SEP were conducted in the different municipalities in relation to the "Hataw sa Barangay" program of the LGUs.
Adoption of environmental education in the schools curricula (island municipalities)
The conduct of training for the teachers in Coron (for Busuanga and Linapacan, Culion and Coron teachers) and Balabac was temporarily suspended. Revised Action Plan vis-a-vis the ceiling budget had already been prepared and forwarded to the PTSD for finalization. Continuing meeting with PTFPP EA/EE staff has been undertaken to effect better implementation arrangements of this program for 2002. Two (2) trainings for 60 teachers in Araceli and Dumaran were conducted.
Audiovisual Production
Radio Program - Forty-eight (48) hours of radio programs
have been aired over DWRM wherein issues discussed include updates
on PCSDS activities, environmental issues, etc.
Radio Plugs - About 100 minutes aired over local radio especially
at Radyo ng Bayan (DWRM).
Press Releases - One hundred forty four (144) pieces of news
items had been prepared and distributed to various local tri-media.
Reproduced 720 copies for the local media outlets. All of these
were either aired over local TV and Radio stations or printed in
local newspapers.
Paragua Newsletter - Four (4) issues were produced and distributed
14,000 copies SEEDS. Distributed about 1,900 copies to intended
clienteles (students).
Fliers - Produced three sets on Admin Orders 4 & 5 and PSCTAZ.
A total of 750 copies distributed.
Poster/Calendar 2001 - PCSDS Calendar 2001 (5000 copies)
has been produced and distributed to target clienteles. Production
of Calendar 2002 was completed and printing in Manila is on-going.
Billboards - Twenty-two (22) sets of billboards have been
put up in the different locations in the province. Assistance of
the Admin and DMO's has produced ten (10) promotion streamers used
during the SEP Day, HPP Public Hearing and Miss Earth pageant.
Other/Special Publications - Notice for the TAZ application
for the tribal proponents of Aborlan have been facilitated through
DMO 2. Script is in tagalog. Distributed 5 sets of SEP Transparencies
to the DMOs for IEC activities within the area.
Annual Report - Continuing writeshop is on-going. Some of
the manuscripts is under editing by the Director of POID. Likewise,
Annual report for CY 2000 had been completed and distributed.
Brochures - A total of about 10,000 copies of assorted materials
have been distributed to various clients.
Video Productions/TV Program - A total of twenty (20) Video
Productions/ Documentations were done namely: Fishpond Operation
in Panitian Quezon entitled "Bak'aw", SEP (tagalog), Tubbataha,
environmental initiatives in Quezon for its Clean and Green program,
Tanbark burning, status of mangroves in Narra and Live Fish Consultations
in El Nido.
Develop and Strengthen Capabilities
Two (2) project proposals for SEC had been prepared and finalized namely; the
Basic Training on Seagrass and Coral Reef Assessment, and the Environmental
Camp for the SEC members. Coral Reef Assessment training (using
two methodologies: Manta Tow and Reef check) was conducted as supported
by the ELAC which was participated in by about 60 students.
Three (3) sets of simplified primers on the different ecosystems
have been prepared by SEC volunteers. Conduct of Field Tours involving
about 50 SEC members and Japanese students was facilitated and successfully
completed in March 2001. Partner agencies included the JWRC, SPCP-ASTI
and ELAC.
Two (2) trainings were conducted on IEC materials preparation and
one TV production training was also held. Meanwhile, two meetings
and visioning workshop of ECAN Board were facilitated.
Networking and support to other Divisions and other activities
Four (4) documentation activities (video and stills) had been undertaken namely: Assistance to Legal Unit in documenting footages at Nasin-aw, Kristine and Silica Beach, the questionable quarry operation in Narra, MOA signing for fisheries, and the fishpond operation at Panitian, Quezon Palawan.
Attended the meeting with Coral Cay Internationale for its assistance in the upcoming IEC collaboration in the area pursuant to the MOA forged by the latter and the PCSDS.
A simplified proposal for the waste (garbage) management scheme for PCSDS had been prepared, and same is presented to the Admin. for comments.
Attended meetings for CBFM, PSCTAZ, One Product One Village project of Provincial government, Palawan Press Club as support to special projects to take note of important matters discussed.
Assisted the DMO 3 in the conduct of Public Consultation in El Nido Palawan through documentation, coordination and facilitation.
Assisted the Palawan Conservation Corps (PCC) in finalizing their 2001 program which include setting-up of mechanisms to fully operationalize the training Center in Salvacion.
Assisted the Legal Unit in coordinating activities for the burning of confiscated tanbark stored at PENRO-DENR. This also included documentation of said activity (burning).
