Palawan Tropical Forestry Protection Programme
Environmental Awareness
The department supports the Tribal Learning Centre/Community Learning Centre programme and is involved in substantial training and capacity building, often meeting needs defined by other departments. The department produces video, print and internet products serving the Programme and organise public relations activities to enhance its image.
Environmental Education. The Programme conducted 29 trainings across the island involving 1,310 teachers in elementary and high school levels. To date, more than 75% of the teaching population of the DepEd in Palawan had been trained and provided with a manual on environmental education integration.
EA Days and Symposia.The Municipal teams conducted 49 settings of environmental awareness days in the southern part of Palawan in schools, barangays and small communities. Four symposia were held in schools, an orientation on green brigade and the launching of Durian tree planting were also supported.
Centre for Environmental Media Productions. PTFPP recognizes the importance of audio-visual (AV) materials in stimulating community involvement by providing reinforcement to learnings gained through symposia, community dialogues and other information and education campaign.
Designing, producing and utilizing effective written and audio-visual materials is an integral part of any development program. Written materials provide the basic text and references as it also serve as guidelines for the development partners and the community.
The Palawan Tropical Forestry Protection Programme established the Centre for Environmental Media Productions (CEMP) for purposes of developing relevant and quality media materials.
