Institutional Strengthening
Trainings of concerned communities and participants in micro-projects were undertaken in cooperation with LGUs and other agencies.
These trainings included fruit trees propagation, sloping agricultural land technology, bamboo planting technology, fire prevention, basic nursery operation and management, tilapia management, water system maintenance and repair, simple bookkeeping, fruit trees propagation techniques, orchid deflasking and composting for tissue culture, ducks breeding and management, marketing, and paminta production and processing.
A total of 822 community participants benefited from these training activities.
Two training activities on deflasking and management of orchids were conducted in Sofronio Espaņola and in Cabayugan in Puerto Princesa. A demonstration followed the trainings; 1,090 orchid plantlets were distributed to 45 participants, with a minimal 23.49% average survival rate.
Seven new community-based organisations (CBOs) were organised and assisted in formulating their operational guidelines. Nine previously organised CBOs were assisted in their application for registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
