PCSD Backs PTFPP 2-Year Extension
Puerto Princesa City - The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development gives full support to Co-Directors Nick Ashton-Jones and Rosalinda Bacosa of the EU-funded Palawan Tropical Forestry Protection Programme for a 2-year extension of the programme.
Cong. Vicente 'Brown' Sandoval, the Chairman of the PCSD and all member of the Council are positive in its stand to back-up the Co-Directors proposal for the extension of PTFPP.
PTFPP is a 7-year special project of the PCSDS with funding support from the European Union whose implementation strategies are within the framework of the Strategic Environmental Plan for Palawan. The Programme started in 1995 during the term of Executive Director Arthur Ventura who pushed the programme proposal to realization.
PTFPP envisions to assist in the preservation of the forest in Palawan through catchment approach, with sustainable development strategy implemented by the communities. As a community-based Programme, it recognizes the vital role of the local government units, as provided in the Local Government Code of 1991 in ensuring participation and sustainability.
