In a special meeting
held at Palawan Center in Makati City last July13, 2007, the
PCSD installed Hon. Gov.Mario Joel T. Reyes as the new Chairmanof
the Council. Cong. Abraham Kahlil B.Mitra, outgoing Chairman,
officiated the traditional oath taking ceremony.
With this elevation, Gov. Reyes vacated,
and as unanimously resolved, turned over the post of Vice

Mitra who nominated Gov. Reyes to

meeting was called to giveway to a new leadership. He urged

success for the various future endeavors the Council may engage.

as Chairman a wonderful experience.

outgoing Chairman for nominating him and expressed his recognition
of the contributions of Mitra in upholding PCSD policies and
programs for the past years (and the years to come). He assured
the Council that his stewardship will provide continuity and
will employ consultative approaches in taking a decision.
Last July 20, Reyes met the PCSD
Staff to introduce himself and listen. He laid down his overall
thrust and leadership style which implies full support from
the technical staff. He stressed that in his term, PCSD will
be more responsive to the issues confronting the various parameters
of sustainable development as prescribed andunder the SEP Law,
but likewise sensitive to the basic needs of the Palawenos
with the staff proud. He is a consensus-builder, will
act on behalf of the Council. The staff warmly welcomed the
chairman by partaking over “pansit, puto at dinuguan
” brunch after the meeting.

offices also took oath: Mrs. Virginia Gapuz (extended for
