A locally common species found on small offshore islands visiting other islets, mangroves, and main islands to feed during the day.
It is a non-endemic species distributed in small islands from India, New Guinea, northern Australia, Sumatra, Java, Lesser Sundas, Moluccas, Sulawesi, and Borneo. In the Philippines, the resident race Ducula bicolor bicolor has been recorded in Marinduque, Masbate, Mindanao, Mindoro, Negros. Polillo, and Palawan, among others. In the Palawan Faunal Region, it has been recorded in the islands of Arena, Balabac, Busuanga, Calauit, Rasa, Ursula, and on the Mainland at Malampaya-Taytay, and El Nido.
The species congregates in large flocks with groups having five to twelve individuals, roosting and feeding on forest fruits with large seeds.
