Scientific Name : Cycas circinalis Mig.
"Pitogo is a stout, palm-like tree that grows 10 m tall, with trunk measuring 40 cm in diameter. The leaves are crowded like a rosette at the terminal portion of the trunk, dark green in color,stiff pinnately divided 2 m long. The leaflets are 30 cm long, 1 cm wide, falcate. Male cones are found at the terminal, elongate-cylindric, 60 cm long. The fruit is ovoid to ellipsoid, 6 cm long and smooth textured.
This species is widespread in tropical Asia, Japan, Papua New Guinea and Polynesia and widely distributed in the Philippines. In Palawan, it is found throughout the island and the Calamianes Group.
The plant, aside from being ornamental, has medicinal value as well. The seeds are roasted powdered, added with coconut oil and applied to wounds, boils and other skin diseases"
