PCSD RESOLUTION NO. 00-158

RESOLUTION DECLARING 3,994 HECTARES AS COMMUNAL FOREST ZONE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF QUEZON, PALAWAN

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 7611 adopted the Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP) as the comprehensive framework that guides the agencies concerned and the local governments in the formulation of plans, programs and projects affecting the environment and natural resources of Palawan;

WHEREAS, Sections 7 to 11 of Republic Act No. 7611 provide for the establishment of the Environmentally Critical Areas Network (ECAN), a graded system of protection and development control over the whole province involving the designation of management zones and their prescribed uses;

WHEREAS, the power to identify and designate ECAN zones pertains to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) as the administrative machinery for the implementation, governance and policy direction of the SEP and pursuant to such power the "Revised Guidelines in the Identification, Establishment and Management of Communal Forest Zone in Palawan" was issued through PCSD Administrative Order No. 01, series of 1999;

WHEREAS, following the criteria and procedures provided in PCSD Administrative Order No. 01, series of 1999, the communal forest zone in the municipality of Quezon, Palawan was identified and an application for its declaration was submitted to the PCSD Staff for evaluation and endorsement to PCSD;

WHEREAS, based on the favorable endorsement of the PCSDS the application was presented to the PCSD for the declaration of 3,994 hectares as communal forest zone in the municipality of Quezon, Palawan and pursuant to such presentation the Council finds that the application is in conformity with the guidelines set forth in PCSD Administrative Order No. 01;

WHEREFORE, on motion duly seconded the Council resolves, as it is hereby RESOLVED, to declare, as it hereby DECLARED, 3,994 hectares as the communal forest zone in the Municipality of Quezon, Palawan.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the corresponding proclamation be issued defining the metes and bounds of the zones.

RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this resolution be furnished the Municipality of Quezon, the Provincial Government of Palawan, the DENR and other agencies concerned for their information and appropriate action.
