RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ASSEMBLYMAN ALI MONTAHA D.H. BABAO TO NEGOTIATE WITH BIMP-EAGA INVESTORS ON THE POSSIBILITY OF PALAWAN TAPPING NATURAL GAS FROM THE PIPELINE OF THE MALAMPAYA GAS-TO-POWER PROJECT

WHEREAS, on July 28, 2000, in the 77th PCSD regular meeting, a special committee on BIMP-EAGA was created to promote the interest of the PCSD in this East Asean regional cooperation;

WHEREAS, Assemblyman Ali Montaha D.H. Babao, member of the PCSD Special Committee on BIMP-EAGA who often represents the Palawan Provincial Council in BIMP-EAGA business meetings has direct contact with potential investors who have expressed interest in bringing investments in Palawan;

WHEREAS, Assemblyman Babao requested for an authority to negotiate with investors in BIMP-EAGA for the possibility of tapping natural gas from the pipeline of Malampaya Gas-to-Power Project;

WHEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, the Council resolved, as it is hereby RESOLVED, to authorize Assemblyman Ali Montaha D.H. Babao, as he is hereby authorized, to negotiate with investors in BIMP-EAGA for the possibility of Palawan tapping natural gas from the pipeline of Malampaya Gas-to-Power Project.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that Assemblyman Babao shall regularly report to the Council through the Committee Chair of the PCSD Committee on Energy;

RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this resolution be furnished the concerned agencies and individuals.
