"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TUBBATAHA REEFS NATIONAL MARINE PARK PROTECTED AREA MANAGEMENT BOARD (TPAMB) TO COLLECT ENTRANCE FEES AND REQUESTING FOR PCSDS REPRESENTATION IN THE TPAMB"

WHEREAS, in June 1998, the PCSD and the DENR entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) providing for the joint responsibilities in the management of Tubbataha Reefs National Marine Park (TRNMP) pursuant to their respective mandate under Strategic Environmental Plan (SEP) for Palawan under Republic Act No. 7611 and the National Integrated Protected Area System under Republic Act No. 7586;

WHEREAS, by virtue of the aforementioned MOA, the Tubbataha Protected Area Management Board (TPAMB) was organized with the Governor of Palawan as representatives of PCSD sitting as Chairman and the DENR Regional Executive Director as Vice Chairman;

WHEREAS, the PCSD further commits in the same MOA to pass all the necessary resolutions for the formal adoption and implementation of the agreements contained therein;

WHEREAS, in the management of the Park the PAMB is empowered to generate funds that may be used in its operations and maintenance in accordance with Section 16 of Republic Act No. 7586 and the relevant provisions of DAO 92-25;

WHEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, the Council resolves, as it is hereby resolved, to authorize the Tubbataha Protected Area Management Board, as it is hereby authorized, to collect entrance fees for the operations and maintenance of the Park;

RESOLVED FURTHER, that PCSD requests, as it is hereby requested, that PCSDS be duly represented in the TPAMB;

RESOLVED FINALLY, that copy of this resolution be furnished the TPAMB for information and appropriate action.
