"RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE PROPOSAL OF THE PALAWAN TOURISM COUNCIL TO SUPPORT THE IMPLEMENTAION OF THE PALAWAN ARRIVAL STATISTIC PROJECT AND THE CODE OF CONDUCT FOR VISITING ETHNIC VILLAGES IN THE PROVINCE"

WHEREAS, Section 12, Chapter III of Republic Act 7611 otherwise known as Strategic Environmental Plan for Palawan Act provides for tourism development planning;

WHEREAS, the Department of Tourism has identified Palawan as one of the priority areas for tourism development in its Tourism Master Plan for the Philippines and in fact has completed its Environmentally Sustainable Tourism Development Plan for Northern Palawan in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency;

WHEREAS, the lack of accurate data on visitor arrivals to Palawan prompted the Palawan Tourism Council, Inc. To conceptualize the Palawan Arrivals Statistics Project to establish a system for collecting accurate information on visitor arrivals;

WHEREAS, tribal lands under the Act is included in the establishment of a graded system of protection and development control over Palawan with stronger emphasis in cultural considerations;

WHEREAS, in support of the SEP, the adoption of code of conduct for visiting ethnic villages is but essential to preserve the cultural heritage of the indigenous communities,

NOW, THEREFOR, upon unanimous decision of the Council;

RESOLVED, as it is HEREBY RESOLVED, that to establish a system for collecting accurate information on visitor arrivals to Palawan and ensure the preservation of the cultural heritage of the indigenous communities of the province, the PCSD is hereby adopting the proposal of the Palawan Tourism Council to implement the Palawan Arrival Statistics Project and the Code of Conduct for Visiting Ethnic Villages;

RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this resolution be furnished to the Department of Tourism, Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Office for Southern Cultural Communities (OSCC), different LGUs and to other concerned agencies for information and appropriate action.
